What are the best things about art fairs

As an observer, I am always delighted at personal creativity and expression. People like to talk about their art. It may be one of the last places where true personal interaction takes place between strangers, as any artistic and hand crafted is really personal to the maker and buyer.

Best show ever and why

I tend to like smaller shows that are anchored by 1 or 2 local recognized artists. At this point, it is still made up mostly of people who believe in what they are doing and simply want to do this business.

Worst show ever and why

A jewelry show in a gallery in Bethlehem. Gallery shows are run by the gallery. The prices were inflated terribly. The artists were either not there or were propped up in some corner, looking unapproachable. Self importance is not attractive. I don't like when a show is set up to look like artists are no longer people, they look like demi gods or some such thing. There is a certain amount of respect accorded to people with national recognition. I understand that, even though they are really people, too. I do not feel a local art show in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania needs that kind of pomp and circumstance.

What is one fun fact about yourself?

I am a sucker for sparkly, like Jeremy the crow in the movie "The Secret of Nihm".
