Years in the Art Fair Business
My whole life! Grew up doing Art Shows and Fests with my parents over 32 years and have been showing on my own since the late '90's
First show ever
As a "helper" at my parents shows: 1983ish. With my family showing my work with them: 1996. On my own: since about 1999.
What are the best things about art fairs
The energy of the people, both artists and patrons. The sense of community. Being able to talk to the clients in person and getting to know them through the process.
Best show ever and why
Village At Northstar Labor Day Weekend 2011. Best sales, best entry fee price, very nice organizers, very high clientele yet laid back, great amenities!
Worst show ever and why
I remember so many from my childhood. Seeing my family suffer from poor show organization, little to no marketing and high entrance fees just about drove us away. The worst shows for me are the ones in a "carnival" type of setting where there are frequent shows a month in the same place like in a casino parking lot.
