First show ever
Grilling on the Green, Biloxi MS, Erected my brand-new tent, set up my tables, placed my artwork out. Then a storm blew threw. Several lost their tents. We didn't make much, but we did come out ahead.
What are the best things about art fairs
Seeing new places, meeting new people, seeing people enjoy my artwork
Best show ever and why
Double Decker, Oxford, MS - It is a one-day show, brutal setup and take down, all in one day, starting before dawn. BUT the weather is usually lovely. The spirit of the town and the shoppers is fun and happy. Everybody loves this festival! And the day is usually extremely profitable. I am contentedly exhausted after this show.
Worst show ever and why
My Lady's Fair in January in Lafayette, La. The show organizers changed venues after decades in a very high-profile place. This was our first time to do one of their shows. Although they promoted and advertised the event, there were hardly any attendees. Never at any time were there as many buyers in the place as there were vendors. We had a nice time, nice trip, liked the organizers, but lost money. Only show we have ever lost money at. We just called it a vacation and enjoyed it anyway!

I think I found this site just trolling the Internet looking for art shows and people with good advice. I have been getting the newsletter for some time now, and I love the rapport the members have. Everyone seems willing to share best practices and good advice.
