First show ever
As potters, our first show was at Peter's Valley when it was held in the field on the site of the craft community. There was a barbeque and auction on Saturday night. As promoters, our first show was New Jersey Craft Experience at South Mountain Arena in West Orange, NJ. Stacey Jarit of Artrider and Richard Rothbard were exhibitors in it. Isn't life interesting.
What are the best things about art fairs
The long standing friendships we have been fortunate to have forged over the thirty years of promoting shows is the best thing about art fairs; then add experiencing the talent and creativity of the exhibitors and watching that talent morph over the years.
Best show ever and why
As potters, our best show was Peter's Valley in the rain. The public was buying even as we were packing up. We even sold work to a customer who didn't have enough money to pay for all she wanted. We had us send us a check when she got home. And yes, she did send it. As promoters, the best show is at any our outdoor shows when the weather Gods are kind. The crowds come and we are all happy campers.
Worst show ever and why
As potters, our worst show was at the Park Avenue Armory (way before ArtRider). We made $250 for a three day weekend. As promoters, Jersey City - wind tunnels were created between the high rise apartment buildings that were not there the five times we scoped the site, measured, etc. UGH!
