First show ever
First one I remember was Fountain Sq in Evanston, my first in Texas was Kerrville.
What are the best things about art fairs
Appreciation for my work, and meeting other artists and seeing their best work.
Best show ever and why
St. Louis-it was the second and third years of the show, my work sold very well, the show was so well organized and everyone was so appreciative, with a brunch at the Ritz-Carlton. It was a great reality test for me, as previously I had never made that much money at a retail fair (I had taken orders at wholesale fairs) and it was very gratifying.
Worst show ever and why
There have been a few, but the worst was being in a tent in a microburst of 100 mph wind, the storm picked the tent up, with my neighbor hanging on. I thought I was getting elecrocuted - was so scared I had to throw all the jewelry in a tray and abandon ship. This was a Paradise City show, I made the mistake of being outside, although they lost power indoors.
Who referred you to ArtFairInsiders.com? Please be specific.
In Austin, Tx. at the Museum show, there was an area they called "Baja"-it was a ravine down from the Museum. They evacuated us due to a hurricane warning. I left all my jewelry under black plastic garbage bags over my cases and went back to the condo, and it was all there when we came back the next day.
