What are the best things about art fairs
I like talking to the vendors to see how each one has setup their booths. I've found that the other vendors are really helpful and pleased to give advice on other fairs/festivals to attend.
Best show ever and why
Clackamas County 4H Horse Tack Sale - March 2011: Made $125 - mostly sold old horse tack I have no use for, but I also sold 3 handmade journals (hand-stitched with paper covers and fabric spines) and two notecards (printed from my original art).
Worst show ever and why
Sherwood Robin Hood Festival - Juky 2011: made $8 total sales Friday/Saturday (sold two notecards and one package of bath salts) - booth fee $70. All other vendors said they never do well at this show and this year is the worst with really low sales. (Lots of festival goers, but it seemed no one was buying.) I was situated between a huge jewelry booth (owner said she never does well at this fair and only comes for the potential contacts) and a guy selling 6 pc micro-fiber sheet sets for $20 (made in China; he had a lot of sales, but said his overall sales were way, way down).
