I am thinking about applying to this show for 2012, and skipping Allentown in Buffalo, which is what I normally do.
I never looked at the Pittsburgh show in June because people told me it was too windy.
How windy, and can I get a spot with less wind? I have pottery.
I think I am talking about a show called Three rivers.
Thanks,
Judy

I live in Pittsburgh and I have to say that it seems that it is always windy and rainy during the 3 Rivers Art Festival. This last year, as Larry said, the buildings created a wind tunnel which took out a few booths. That was the end of the first week. The second week had no such tragedies. My understanding is that the load in and out also has its challenges. The weekend only spaces are in Point State Park which really is an open space. It is also where the majority of food vendors and entertainment are located. The bottom line is that you could have extreme wind and rain or not -
Windy, can get windier than you can imagine. This past year the wind hit an isle that's always been safe. The Gateway Center buildings create wind tunnels because of their design.
Though some may disagree, the full period spaces are better for sales than the weekend spaces.
What else do you want to know.

I have talked to two other artists who have done it and were happy.
One had glass, they were satisfied with their sales, the other artist also does it every year and says he does ok.
Both have to stay in a hotel.
The wind is primarily what is holding me back, still unsure: I have never done a show in the Pittsburgh area.
