Hi All,
I am passing on some info for all artist who work hard at creating one of a kind pieces of art and who derive their living from their art. A fellow artist local to me in Georgia e-mailed this site to me. I think it will be in Ya'll's ( I am from Georgia after all ) best interest to read the letter written called: No More Mr. Nice Guy. You can access this by going to www.nationalartistsadvocacyinstitute.word press. It is very timely as to all the posts that I have been reading regarding late apps., the costs of booths, app fees and jury processes.
I believe the gentleman who wrote the letter hit the nail on the head. We as a community of artist let all that has come about within the festival and art shows allowed this to happen.
Would love to hear your feedback from this letter as i think it is pertinent to all of us. we as artist have the right to get all the info from these shows. ie; true head count of attendance, area demographics, # of spaces aloted for each category, # of space pre-juried in, ETC!!!
I believe that the industry needs some house cleaning. Let's revert to originals only shows that is all about the art and leave out all the festival junk. This way those who truly want to purchase original art will come and the rest will wait for the county fair to come to town.
Thank you for your attention and hope that you will read this letter as I am sure it will resonate with most of you. Ginnyhttp://nationalartistsadvocacyinstitute.wordpress
