Help!

i got rejected from a bunch of shows...but of coarse these two I DID get into and they are both the same weekend.

Jewelry category.

I will be in Florida for other shows...but never done Texas. Long drive to Texas and allready paid the booth fee.

Will my van of 200.000 miles make it to Texas?

I have not done either of these shows so I don't know which is the better bet.

Any opinions?

  • Bayou City is hands down the right show to do. The people in Houston wait for this show, and the one in the fall. The organization is well done. The people in Naples can go to a show every weekend practically, and most of them are retired, walkers. I drive that far for a good show, gas is expensive, I stay in my van which is a class C motorhome. It does make more sense to line up a couple shows in Texas, not just one. But I did not get into Bayou City, after having a great show there in the fall. I got into Austin, so I'll go to Texas, and do a show in Chattanooga on the way back. Depends where you are going back too... Naples downtown is the last of a string of shows that started Jan 1st. for the season. Im out of Florida before then, even though I did it last year. The crowds are there no doubt, but the buying energy was mediocre. I decided to do a show in NYC mid March and make the first of March my last show in Florida.
    • Thanks!

I cancelled Bayou City however...I knew all along it was the better of the two...its my vehicle....I am so afraid of it not making it there and back. Geeeez. I hope I can get in again when I have a reliable one!

  • Bayou City is a good show, the people who run it are top  notch, and I love doing it.  It isn't an issue for me since I live in Austin, but I had the same issue last year when I was accepted to a good show in Florida, and passed it up to do one here in Texas.   If you had two in a row here in Texas, then I would do it.  Otherwise, that is a long drive with lots of money for gas, hotels, not to mention the lost studio time.  However, If you decide to do Bayou, come by and say hello. :)

  • I can get my booth fee minus 100.oo back if I cancel Bayou City by Feb 4th.
    •  Two thousand mile round trip in old van versus show in state you are already in.  No brainer.
