Hi, I could use some advice from you Art fair veterans out there!  I am making my own sign to hang on the front of my tent.  Any advice on how to hang it?  I'm contemplating either velcro (which I would have to sew to the tent), or clamps - but I would hate for one to fall. I have a 10'x10' EZ up.

Thanks

  • Do you have the loops at the four corners on the front of the tent top? Mine does. I use those to hang my banner, with wooden rods I purchased at a craft store in their wood crafts section. I put velcro loops on the backside of the banner (glued them on), and run the rods through when doing my set up, put the rods through the canopy loops....Voila! all done. Did it that way because the banner needs roll up for storage. It's heavy weight, outdoor vinyl.

  • Take a look at www.CanopyBanners.net  -  A complete kit to hang a banner on the front of your canopy. Comes with a banner or without.

  • I ended up with clear twist type upholstery tacks.  They are barely visable - here's a photo.

  • My ez-up came with four loops across the top front piece of the canopy- this is where I attach a banner with my business name- it also came with a banner I ordered from them, and a banner "pocket" I can use to ceate my own banner and slide it into the pocket- which is weatherproof. I have the Encore II. Check to see if yours has the loops. If so, this is the "front" of your canopy. I also have the measurements for creating your own banner- it came in my instructions packet with the ez-up.

  • If you have an EZ-Up, many of the newer ones have a flap or clear pouch inside the awning, so some people turn the awning vertical upwards, and the sealed pouch underneath displays the banner, That eliminates having a sun shade in the front so it may not be the best. Some of the awning clamps have an extra hole in the top of the body, and the smaller awning pieces will fit in that for the vertical stringers to attach a banner while still having a functional awning.

Another solution I've seen is to use white PVC pipe with a couple of elbows and a horizontal bar across the top. You bungee the pipes to the front legs in 2 or 3 places for good stabilty and have the banner either zip tied or bungeed to the pipes. The friction fit is good enough to keep the pipes together and it keeps the packing away simple. That approach lets you create a larger banner than the EZ-up accessories.

  • I found a solution!  Twist in upholstery tacks like the ones my grandmother used on her armchair covers. They are clear so they blend in with my sign.
    • Please take a picture and post - I will be anxious to see how it looks.  Might have to check in to it.  Sounds like it would definitely look better than the "Shower Curtain Hooks"
  • You can go to Harbor Freight and get a grommet tool and packet of grommets.  I have seen people use the "old type" shower curtain hooks.  The silver ones that are shaped like a pear.
    • Thank you!
      • Welcome - if your banner/sign has enough room at the top, you can slip it under the flap of the top and attach it to the bar that way.
