I plan on being ready to jump applying for the 2018 season but, I would like to get into at least one more event before Christmas. It's past the deadline for most. For others, I'm getting beat out by people who they say have similar items. I just did a very nice juried art fair where we had 12 other jewelers besides me. We all had very different styles except one. But even so, hers was different enough that we all did well.
The other problem is cost. I just can't swing a fee that's $200+ at this time. Maybe when I get more sales.
I'm not looking for craft but more in the line of art fairs. Any suggestions? I need to stay in my local Detroit MI area. So far most are out of state.
I won't do shops that asked for commissions.
Thanks in advance.

Good advice from Greg. You also might try our site CallsforArtists.com where some of the smaller events are listed as well as the large ones. You might visit the Michigan Guild's site because I know they have something coming up this fall in the Detroit area and check out our website ArtFairCalendar.com for a show near you. I just was contacted by Handcrafters.com who have a Christmas event in the Detroit area. You can find some, I'm sure. Oh, Pleasant Ridge has a sweet one for the holidays ... should also be listed on our site at ArtFairCalendar.com.

Handcrafters.com? I looked that up online and it does not seem to be a site for an event in Detroit?
Thanks everyone. I'm just too late for this year. Everything is closed as well as their wait lists. Or just way too expensive for me. I do still have the FreeFest and one Christmas show. I'll not miss those deadlines for next year! I really wasn't ready when they came up for the shows I wanted to try for.
I'll still keep my eyes and ears open. I've gotten in some after the closing before, but it's not looking that way this time around.
This will give me time to "fine tune."
You can do an advanced search on Zapplication and find several shows in the Michigan that are still open to applications for this year. I just found three available shows and it took about one minute to locate them. Use Zapp...it is an extremely valuable resource. Just go to Participating events and do an advanced search with State and application deadline

Okay -- I see they have changed their brand, Cindy. Here is the link to their shows: http://www.mercantilefairs.com/our-markets
I'm trying to do too many things here and haven't updated them on my site. They'll be on ArtFairCalendar.com -- soon! I hope.

Karen, I wish you the best in finding some shows. I am in Louisiana so any I know about are too far for you to travel. :(
