'Tis the season in the Midwest and East for sure! Art fairs (and I mean good ones) nearby for many of us. I'm tracking on:

  • Boardwalk in Virginia Beach, VA
  • Smoky Hill River in Salina, KS
  • Talbot Street in Indianapolis
  • Brookdale Park in Montclair, NJ
  • Royal Oak (MI) Clay and Glass

you tell me, what else?

I'm heading to Chicago to attend the Old Town Art Fair. Will I see you there?

Thanks to everyone who added so many show reviews for last weekend! From S. Carolina to Columbus and many other places. Good job, folks.

  • Also at Cantigny :)
    • Hi Pauline, great meeting you and Brian at Cantigny, hope you enjoy you trip to Door County.

  • Cantigny Art In Bloom in Wheaton Il. Booth 71, Easy setup, nice day today, hoping for a good weekend.

  • I just spoke with my friend Kathy Eaton who told me the freeways in downtown Chicago will all be closed this weekend! I just can't imagine. It is hard enough to get through Chicago when they are open. So, I'm leaving to arrive on Friday and who even knows when I'll get home again?

    • We are heading to Chicago today. Will leave early to get there before rush hour, hopefully. We've booked a hotel room near the airport. All freeway to downtown will be closed? Oh my, will be driving to the show on Saturday and Sunday morning be a major problem? I am thinking I should just to take a hotel shuttle to the airport to catch the train? But still, there is a Sunday afternoon driving into the show site. Headache already.
      • I'm imagining myself sitting on Lakeshore Drive Sunday afternoon like forever heading south.

        Hope to meet you Sabrina.

    • It isn't quite that awful.  You are ok on Friday nite coming into town as long as it is before 10pm.

Those of us from the north are in for a long ride on Saturday coming in to town cuz that is the part that will be worked on.

We are leaving extra early and taking side streets to avoid it  Yep, the timing stinks.

  • Talbott Street, about 10 spaces south of 19th Street. I have an 18 foot space and will have awnings up on both sides of the tent for open sides. Looking forward to a good show :-)
    • Do you think 18 feet is enough, Robert? This is such a nice friendly, neighborhood-y show. Weather is looking good. One year when we did the show there was a woman doing henna next to us so we traded for my henna tattoo. Also nearby was Luke Block who still does shows but also works for Flourish.com.

Spoke with Nels Johnson yesterday. He set up early and was taking a nap near the ocean in Virginia Beach at the Boardwalk Art Show.

      • The 18 feet is next to a tree so that gets me another few extra feet. I switch between a 15 ft tent sometimes, but the 10x10 is easier to put up and I can extend 5 ft overhangs on either side to gain another 20 ft of wall space plus an extra panel inside down the middle. I'll decide today which to use when I pull the tent out of the garage.
