This past weekend the 4th Annual Renaissance Fine Arts Fest was held in Ridgeland, Mississippi, an affluent area near Jackson. The event is hosted in an upscale mall area and is organized as a special event by the mall with input from some of the best artists in our business. H.C. Porter is the artistic director. She, Dale Rayburn, Mamie Joe and other local artists have been in on the ground floor from its inception. Because of their years in the business they have brought an exceptionally good group of artists to show their work here.
Here's a link and a video about the show: http://www2.wjtv.com/news/2012/apr/01/fourth-annual-renaissance-fine-arts-fest-ar-3524221/
Has anyone here participated?

My second year. I can say the same as Jerry: very nice venue at upscale mall, very good artists, adds on TV. Easy set-up, awesome helpful volunteers(best I've seen), great artist breakfast and very gratefull customers. I only wish there were more of them. Last year sales were good for me, this year it was down 50%. Did not decide yet if i'll go back. Such a sweet show, but it needs more patrons.
I just viewed the video from their website. It touts exclusivity of the artists which I suppose is fine, but that coupled with over half of it being the interview with a painters husband proudly talking about the 3 original paintings on display which take 400 hours to complete and cost around $20,000--what were they thinking? IMHO a huge turnoff to the general art buying public. I will write the promoters today.
Hey, I was there. I am aquainted with Dale and Mamie Joe from my time in Atlanta. Pretty nice small show. Small customer turnout, though, I would guess only 3 or four thousand if that. I didn't make expenses. Nice venue at upscale mall. Very easy setup. Weather turned out ok, fairly warm. I doubt I'll go back. I'ts fairly close to where I live in Ga. so I was hoping... I need some good shows within 400 or so miles of NW Ga. Off to Chattanooga next!
