Weights

I have an EZ up with lower sta-bars & anchor plates for the corner poles. Today I'm sewing nylon sand bag covers. I also have heavy grid walls that anchor to the poles and sta-bars. So would it be better to have long tubular weights that lay along the sta=bar or would it be better to have chunkier ones at the base of the poles?? Thanks.

  • Does the tarp accumulate water? If so could the weight collapse in the canopy. I seem to recall seeing some easy up style canopies implode from too much water in the corners.
  • I would think you'd want the weight on the legs, not the sta-bar.   The sta-bar could slip loose from the leg.  Could you lay the weight down by the sta-bar, but still attach the end to your canopy leg?  I also use sta-bars and gridwall, but I fasten my weight to the legs of the canopy.  If I'm expecting a lot of wind, I use a bunch of bungee cords to connect the tops of the gridwall to the canopy frame.  If I'm expecting rain, I put in a 10 x 10 ceiling tarp.  That way if my canopy leaks, the ceiling tarp will catch most of it.

    • Do you put the ceiling tarp on the inside?  Does it make it hotter inside the tent?
