Hi! I am rephrasing this question & thanks Larry for answering the previous question I had up as you are always so helpful-appreciate it. I have heard from other Artists that some promoters are requesting heavier weights & we have had these forever. Even tho we have had no problems with them, we were wondering if anyone knows if there is a general weight for canopies now? Also, we want new ones as these are just cement in pvc & perhaps (we haven't looked a lot) we can get weights that are less bulky filled with a material heavier than cement & many come with covers. Any suggestions would be appreciated & again Larry, thanks for answering THAT question!

  • This is my newest set of weights. They are 4"PVC and weigh 50+ lbs each. I filled them with lead shot and are only 17" tall. The handle makes them very easy to move and keeps them from rolling around in the van.301675103?profile=RESIZE_480x480

  • This option uses dumbells. They are available in a wide variety of weight options are are more bompact than cement filled PVC. My set is 40lbs each leg. I bought them at Walmart for around $30 each...301674840?profile=RESIZE_480x480

  • The number tossed around is usually 45 pounds per corner. 18 pounds used to be fine but global warming (not fake news) has created more violent winds so heavier weights is recommended. I know artists that regularly use 100 pounds per corner.

    • Hello again Larry~ 100 pounds?!!!  NOT sure where he does shows-I know downtown between buildings can really bring wind gusts around tall buildings. I know Florida can be pretty bad by the water too-global warming-NOT going to go there-LOL, but thank you for your advise/opinion. We will definitely go heavier & search for less-bulky tubes hopefully with covers, however, they aren't a necessity. I think 50-60 pounds would work well for us & where we go. Again, thanks so much for your help on this!

  • Find someone who sews and have them make covers for your weights.

    • You DID answer THIS question, but I had to rephrase it above...thanks Larry!

      • What kind of weight requirements have you seen? I have seen 40 pounds per leg a few times. I have a lot more than that so I have never given it much thought.

        • Thanks for responding Linnea. Yes, I have seen 40 as well. Ours are the long pvc tubes about 4" diameter. Are yours cement too? I have heard of someone using~I think it was lead shot in narrow pvc tubes. Thanks for your help. Kathleen
