When I googled this show, your post was the 5th result. I wish I could find pics that show some of the vendors. I doubt I'll try it this year. I may drive up there Saturday to check it out.
How are you? How did your show go last weekend? I can't remember the name of it.
I kind of wanted to do this Watter's Creek show, but I am worried about the heat and the wax. I am actually going to do that tiny one in Belton this weekend that that gallery is putting on. There is some sort of biking event going on so I am hoping there will be good traffic. The booth fees are so low that at the very least, I am hoping I can get my name out some more.
So what are your thoughts on Gruene Market Days? How about the Texas Arts and Crafts fair?

Starving Artist was about like my previous show. :) The booth fee was lower, so my net ended up being highter.
I checked out Gruene in March. There were a lot of shoppers because of the great weather and it being the end of spring break. It was more on the craft side than the art side, but there was some art. The Texas State Arts & Crafts Fair on Memorial Day weekend was all right for me last year. There is a lot of good art there. It's hot though - in the 90's. There is an air-conditioned building. The indoor vendors said they didn't get much traffic. I would have thought they'd get a lot of people seeking cold air!
Did anyone exhibit at the Texas State Arts & Crafts Fair in 2012? I'm considering doing the show, but am pretty new at this business, and need some guidance. Any comments will be appreciated. I also need to know some good shows around the central part of the state.
Watters Creek is on ZAPP. If you click on the website link for both the show and the town, you get some info, but not enough to do any good. Since they don't list the artists from last year and don't show any photos of the show, this can make it a high risk event - in other words, high expenses (if you have to stay in a pricey hotel) and very possiblly low sales.
If you go to Google, you'll see that the town of Allen lies between Plano and McKinney, which might make it appear to be affluent. But it's also close to Frisco, which, though affluent, has been a very bad venue for art shows in the past three years. I know, I did Frisco three years ago and it is off of my list. A lot of over-mortgaged folks out there.
That all being said, if you have a free weekend, live near by, go for it! The deadline for the ZAPPlication is 4/8.
I have been wondering about those Dallas area shows, and still have not made up my mind about applying. I have family nearby, but I sure hate to not at least be able to make my booth fees!
Ha ha, no it's not. Although perhaps they serve it at the festival, and if they do, I'm in for good bbq anytime being a Texas native and all that . This is a fairly new show, only in it's third season, and when I checked for press I could not find much on it. It is in what looks like an upscale area outside of Dallas.
