Has anyone done the War Eagle Art Festival in the spring? It is scheduled for weekend of May 7th, 2010. How are the crowds in the spring festival? Any estimates on average sales?

Depending on which portion you apply to one of the main issues in the application process is how much inventory can you bring. The operate on a 10% commission on your sales so quantity can be much more important than quality.
Great information Don -- thank you so much. It is good to hear from someone from the area, and with contacts in the area! We were invited to War Eagle Mill -- Barb (the show director) has been very informative and helpful. I hope the weather holds up too -- she said that last year the weather caused 2 days of their spring show to be almost a total loss. But, they can't control the weather!
Debie,
I can't answer your question but will pass this on. I was born and raised in that part of the country and I know it used to be huge. In talking with friends who still live there, they say it is still huge. There are (used to be) three separate fairs going on at the same time in the same place. There was War Eagle Mill Arts and Craft Show, War Eagle Fair and Sharp Farm Craft Show. I'm told one can't tell when they move from one to the other. In fact, some of my friends who go every year have never been aware it was 3 shows. War Eagle Fair (technically, the largest of the three) has discontinued their Spring show so, in the Spring there are only two - War Eagle Mill and Sharp's Farm. But, I understand, it is still huge. Plus, all of NW Arkansas is having a craft fair on this same weekend so there should be no lack of people. I applied for War Eagle Mill but could never get an answer one way or the other. I finally gave up and contacted Sharp and got in there without a problem. So, I'm not sure what to expect but I'm hopeful. At the very least, I'm confident there will be hordes of people. Good luck if you decide to go.

A friend suggested I attend this show if I can get in. If you happen to have time I would appreciate your take on whether my work would be a fit. I have some items posted here plus my website is www.kevinwilliamsondesign.com.
Thanks.

Kevin,
In looking at your work, my guess is that you would do well at War Eagle. It draws a huge crowd and although much of the work is lower-end items, there is still some nice artwork. And, there are people there who are willing to spend money for the nicer work. I avoid the Spring shows because they are both off-shoots of the original War Eagle Fair and I'm guessing they aren't connected with War Eagle except in terms of location and the use of a play on the name. The Spring shows are War Eagle Mill A/C Show and Sharps Farm. But, the War Eagle Fair show in October is a huge event and, at least for me, has been well worth the trip every time. Of course we never know but, I think your work would sell there. They've been nice people to work with and it's in a beautiful part of the country. Hope this helps.
