Can anyone help me with this? I've downloaded the videos to my desktop and it looked as though they were loading properly into YouTube but when I was all finished nothing had been uploaded. I am on a Mac -- do I need to use iMovie to make this happen?

I think You Tube has both a file size and time limitation. Might that be your problem?
What I do is use a presentation program like wedding photographers use and that allows me to add a title and credits. You Tube is one of the output options and it does it for me automatically.
