I'm trying to figure out how to set up my booth. I used what I had on hand to get a rough idea. It was 30 degrees outside with 22 knot winds and we had a storm front coming in..so not easy . WE defiantely have to plan how we will weight this tent down...
In fact it stayted to rain/ sleet just as I got this tent almost down....and the winds kicked up to almost 35 knots...
I planned on burgundy and gold curtains but only had blue panels handy for the shot, just to get an idea. Carpet was a remnant I had stored so it's not laying flat. It just looks so stark. I want to get banners with some jewellery piccies for the walls and on the table skirt...
Two 6 foot tables in an "L" shape. We want to be able to get behind cases to reach jewellery since our cases have rear sliders.
Cases,left to right.
1-Left low case, rings and earrings and small pendants.
2- taller case, neck pieces on taller neck displays.
3- rings hand hand made eyeglasses ( hense the faces with the eyeglasses)
4- taller case, larger neck pieces and tall neck displays.
HELP!!! Ideas? "L" shape layout? "V" shape layout? Curtains are too short, need longer ones, they blow in the wind, need to be weighted some how. Not sure if we have enough room for screens.... Will it look too stark w/o curtains? Will work out some sort of carpet or rug that will lay flat, don't want anyone tripping...
Below is booth picture, not sure why it didn't show up...

One great source for booth ideas is Flicker. Here's a group that is constantly getting updated:

Thanks goor that particular flicker link.
Michelle, Im not sure if any one has mentioned this Ive always thoiught but, BIG, i mean at least 2 by 3 feet. pictures of your worke, framed on the walls draws my attention into a booth. This really attracts your eye and you can see what your selling. Lots of times, when I walk down an isle, I glance at the jewerly but, if someone is looking I don't bother to go see.especially when there is a crowd and I'm on the other side. Jewerly is really effective in pictures. I sell purses and things from recycled fabrics. It really doesn't work for me. Good luck!
when I'm at Winter Park,I will try to get a booth shot in. I need one to apply to shows,I'm new so I don't have one and by the time I got a tent it was late December so I couldn't get a booth shot done due to the weather. If I can't get one at Winter Park, hopefully I can get one when I get home ,maybe by then we'll get a few warm March days so I can do it....
I ordered some big posters from Vista Print of my jewellery. One to put horizontaly across the front of my one table and three others virticly, hanging on the back walls. I think it will fill up dead space plus people will see what I'm selling, from a distance and hopefully be drawn in to look. I know it works on me!
That sound Great. I had ordered some from vista print also, I also make brooch bouquets, they turned out great! Br sure and get some rack cards or flyers or bouchures. On the racks cards, I put the 4 pictures and on the back, write a long sales pitch telling about my product and me.You know fill upthe back , then add your contact information. They have gone over real well. I just got some more free, ( of coursr, plus postage). These have a sample of all the things I make . Every thing from the handbag, messenger bags, sweater coats, mitens, arms warmers All the recycledsweater items and the, brooch bouquets. It is surprisuing how many sales I get from them. One lady told me, she uses it as her wish liist. Picks out what she wants, calls me,and if I dont have itI atleast know whatshe means so Ican make her one similar. I love Vista Prin! .Besure and have a rack to place your cards and fyers in.O I have used the big postcards as advertizement crds. You know pictures on the fron and all the information on the back, plus a sales pitch. Fill the back. just delect there spaces and put in add text. Good luck, and Have fun! Ca't wait to see it all finished. I'm working on mine. it looks to cluttered, plus I now have the sweater coats. I'll try to put in a photo.
I thought about brochures too. I have some really nice heavy stock coloured business cards w/ picces of my work . website and contact info and a little breakdown of what we do written on back.Kinda like a business card sized brochure...
Vista print is so fast and good quality so far. I may do the brochures too...if I get a little extra $$$$$.
Hopefully you will get a free offer. I get them quite often, check all emails from them.. Most of their responces have some free offered, sometimes a long list of things. Good luck!
Trust me, we artists are a hardy lot. I would imagine that most of us have gone through those precise trials. We must be the most positive people on earth to dust ourselves off and do it all again. Try to find a rod to put through the bottom pocket of your curtains, because they will always be blowing in the breeze. I agree that having the tables may be a more "please come in" approach. Once you get your posters, that will help. Most of us purchase items to add to our displays little by little when we have a successful show. You'll be able to gain great insights when you network with other artists at shows. Sometimes, that's the best part I take away from a show. It's great of Larry to help. Good luck!
I always stress on "outy" vs "inny". Do you want people to enter your booth like a little shop, which takes commitment on their part, or do you want your tables lining the entrance so they just have to stop to see. I don't think I've ever had the same set up twice.
This one turned out well when I had a corner to work with:
