I want to shake up my show schedule a little next year and I have just realized that Pittsburgh is in my range. But it is too far to have my husband come with me and both of them look like setup / breakdown nightmares. It looks like at Three Rivers I would need to breakdown in two hours. That is doable for me if I have all my breakdown stuff with me but with no storage that isn't going to happen. I also take 3 -4 hours for setup. Will I have that much time? I don't mind being up late or getting up early. Is there tent rental available.
I am assuming Shadyside is a Sat. morning setup which I can do if parking is close by. What time does setup start?
Anything anyone can tell me about setup / breakdown at either show plus hotels / parking would be appreciated.

Any info on Three Rivers? My thoughts are that if I ask for the last session then I won't have the 2 hour breakdown requirement. True?
Too much for a single answer. Here's Shadyside.
Shadyside set up starts around 4:00AM and even at that time, there will be a bunch of artists out there setting up. The closest hotel is the Shadyside Inn (412-441-4444) about a block away but it's expensive.
There's the Marriott Courtyard
5308 Liberty Ave
Pittsburgh, PA
(412) 683-3113
And a new hotel at Bakery Square under five minutes from the show
Marriott Springhill Suites
134 Bakery Square Boulevard
Pittsburgh Pennsylvania 15206

That looks doable. I'm assuming the show opens at 10 which is plenty of time for me. What about parking at the show? HA is usually drop and go which means I drop off everything but the work and set up, then dolly all the extras like pole bags and boxes back to the van and dolly in the work. That needs close ample parking. I called Springhill Suites and they have flat parking.
Howard usually makes arrangements for parking. There's a school three short blocks from one end of the show and the other is usually a trolley ride to a parking lot in Oakland. If you have a minivan you can get away with parking in the garage or on the street out of sight of the show.
Unfortunately Howard's tent rental company no longer accompanies Howard to shows outside of Florida. A large number of artists used to have the tent with pro panels set up for them when they got there. Made set up and break down easier.

There was a woman who had a rental tent at the Arlington show. I thought she got it through HA but not sure.
