I'm thinking about upgrading my ShowOff with a 2' awning. Is there much of a benefit besides the obvious of looks? Did you once not have an awning and decided to add one and why? Was there times you decided not to use your awning at a show, and wished you had - why? Does it cause more problems than it's worth i.e. increasing winds?

With a trimline, awnings are great. No wind problem. If the wind is getting very severe it takes only a moment to unstrap and let the awning hang. At night I always lower my awnings. However you leave the poles up. No negatives.
Pros: shade- not just for you but also for your customers as well as in the booth. Remember if your booth walls are down then you have a certain Lighting in your booth. If the front does not have an awning then that lighting is different. By having an awning I have a more consistent lighting in my booth for which I control with my interior, powered, lighting.
Protection from rain. That extra span being 30 or 50 in makes a significant difference in ring entering your booth.
I usually set up to awnings, one front and one side.
And the best pro of all... When you are closed at night it gives the kids who are walking around a Climbing Gym to hang & play on to wreck your tent :-)
I also made my own awnings for my pop up tents.
We started last year with an ABC Canopy and after dying in the heat took the recommendation to add an awning which for MANY shows brought blessed relief from the heat and we could sit just outside of the tent. I know that awnings aren't allowed at all shows, but after we added it, we were very happy to not be stuck "indoors" - there just isn't enough room in our 10x10 for us and our art. I push the boundaries of some shows by sitting at the edge of our tent under the awning. Our reinvestment for this year is a full Trimline with backdoor and two awnings. Pricey, but I noticed a complete difference in temperatures from our tent to others. Not looking forward to setting it up, but really looking forward to not dying in the heat this year! Will also try to buy a corner space whenever offered to be able to open up the new back door for airflow and sitting out behind the tent under our new awning!! Only took me one year to figure this out - LOL.
