I just got an email from the show organizers about this show...located north of Tampa.  Has anyone ever done it?  It's been around 30+ years. . .

Deadline is Dec. 1.

Thanks!

  • I did it the second year of my doing shows. Considering the quality of my work at the time I did quite well. However there are several things really wrong with this show. I was far way from the music thank God, because it was really really loud and the type of music didn't seem real appropriate for an art show. The show is in an area with a lot of narrow one way streets. Set up and break down can be really nasty depending on your location and you have to park on the street. You could easily end up parking 10 or more blocks away from the show. Even with a reasonablely good parking space (arrived Sunday morning at 5AM to get it)and a booth location that was close to the street, I had a nasty time trying to get my van near my booth for loading out. My booth as well as a lot of booths were by the water and it was really damp there. I had a hell of a time with condensation. The layout is very confusing. I got lost trying to find my booth after a bathroom run. And the porta potties were really bad.

But I did make a little money and unless you get a booth space close to the music a person could probably do well here.
    • Thanks, Alison! Very helpful.
  • I did it in 1995. I remember the year because on Saturday after the show, we went to Tampa Stadium to see the Dead play and that was the year the music died. My review of the show wouldn't be worth much being fifteen years old.
