Taking down Craft Hut

Hi,

I recently purchased a used Craft Hut and set it up/broke it down solo for the first time this weekend. I am wondering if there is a specific way to take it down . I think I bent part of the frame work, the poles where the PVC rafters fit into while taking it down. I took down the front 2 legs, then the back 2. I think the frame bent a bit while the back was still elevated and the front was on the ground. I dont know how else you would take it down.

Also, one of the legs has trouble telescoping, it like to get stuck . I was thinking WD40 would do the trick unless the leg is bent. Anyone run into this problem before?

Thanks,
Matt Olian

  • Hi Alison, Thanks for reminding me. One hole at a time is correct. Actually now that I think of it, I did it half way all the way around and then to the bottom.

  • If you are taking it down solo the directions say to lower one hole all the way around and continue until it is all the way down. Don't drop one leg at a time the whole way. I usually get someone to help me with raising it and lowering it so I don't have to do that. I also do one side and then the other rather than front to back but since it is square I don't think it makes much difference. Do you have sta-bars? I recently got sta-bars and started having more trouble with one of my legs. I learned to not put the sta-bars on until it is all the way up and to take them off when it is all the way up. Makes raising and lowering a lot easier. I do have one leg that is harder to raise and lower than the others but I've managed to get it up and down. I may replace it before next fall.
  • Your take down process is the same as I've been doing with mine for more years than I can remember. I've never bent any pieces. But make sure to collapse the legs entirely before lowering the frame.

Don't know about the stuck leg but I don't think WD40 can hurt. Make sure to wipe the excess up before putting it in your vehicle or having the top or sides resting against it.
