Students' idea for license plate to support arts becomes bill in Michigan House

Three Ann Arbor, MI, students have inspired a piece of legislation that, if signed into law, would establish a new means of generating revenue for arts education in Michigan. On March 12 State Representative Douglas A. Geiss introduced House Bill 4407 - a bill that would create a fundraising license plate to provide support to the Michigan Council for Arts and Cultural Affairs (MCACA).

Isn't this what you want to hear? Young people thinking about something besides themselves and taking action to get support for their passion?

    I sure hope this gets passed. Good for them and a wonderful idea. I wish Illinois had an arts plate, we have just about everything else!

    This is awesome! And bipartisan too! Hopefully they can get it passed and printed quickly with no hold-ups.
