Square invoices

Hey Square users. Maybe I'm the only unlit bulb out here, but I didn't realize that if you use Square to invoice your customer you are charged the same 2.75% rate as the "card present" rate. This is good to know for those of us who take orders over the phone. I tried it this morning and it worked flawlessly.

  • Using Square Invoice, do not ship till the customer pays the invoice, duh.

  • I have a question.  I was having difficulty getting a charge thru for my first customer and finally got it thru.  When I checked later, It was charged three times!~!!!  I want to refund the money, but don't know how to contact the customer since square doesn't store any information.  Does anyone know who I can find the information?

    • Go to dashboard with Square and find the charges.  Then you can fix this.  By the way, I do not use Square yet but have been learning all about.  They are actually easy to call and speak with a human.  866-371-3453  However, you will need to log into your Square account, hit settings, choose "Dashboard" then hit Contact and Call and you will be given a case type number that you will enter when you call.  Then a human, in fact a very helpful human will talk to you and teach you everything you need to do.   Dave

      • Thank you dave.  I feel better now that I have a pone number to reach them.  I found the instructions, finally.  And I did not need their information, it is apparently embedded in their sale information even though I cannot see it.  Click on the individual sale and one can make either an full or partial refund and send.  Once I get to know the navigational abilities better, this will not be a difficult thing.  Like Megan said, I am surprised it went thru the first two times because she did not sign for them and I am certain that the total I had her sign for was the original $55.00 plus tax not the $165+ that came up later.  I really thought I needed her information to make a refund, but Square does that for you.  They really do make life easier once we get the hang of things.

        • Sorry about the typos.  It has been a long weekend. LOL

    • You should be able to refund right from Square.  Go to the activity page and click on the ones you want to refund.

      • I can, but I have no email or charge number to refund to.  Am I missing something somewhere?

        • Jeanne - I'm really surprised that it went through 3 times without a signature.  I've had to swipe multiple times if the card isn't reading correctly, but it has never charged.  I charged someone the incorrect amount earlier this year and in order to do a refund, I had to have the person's credit card number and exp. date.  The customer contacted me, so I was able to take care of it quickly.

  • It is a good feature. I used it recently to collect a remaining balance on a commission piece I created. Worked flawlessly.

  • Yes, I got my email the other day, telling me that. Good to know that it worked for you!

I'm new to square and thought i would just run cards from phone orders through manually- I'm assuming this is different?
