I was accepted to both. Spring Green is closer (3 ½ hours), and perhaps I’d get some of the “Madison” market. Des Moines is 7 hours. I know nothing about the market in Des Moines, only that this show is held at the same time as the more famous one downtown. AFSB has no sales info on Des Moines. Last year I did not get into Spring Green (which kind of surprised me) , so I backed it up with Des Moines this year.

Thanks for your help.

  • I did Spring Green for the last to years. I won first place ceramics my first year, with auto entry last year. Did not get in this year, nor did some other folks I know who have done it several times. It's good they are turning over their artists and keeping it fresh. It's a well run show. It's a straight shot down 3-4 blocks of main street, so there are no bad spots. It was one of my better shows both years. The only bad thing is that there is little to no cell phone service in Spring Green, so credit cards have to be taken on faith. Never had a problem, though.

I will be doing ArtFest Midwest this year, for the first time. A friend of mine has done it for a few years, and speaks highly of it. It's indoors, so weather won't be an issue.

  • I'll be at Spring Green too! First year for me but it definitely sounds promising.

    • Hi Amy I am glad to hear that, it will be nice to meet you in person!

  • Hi. I got into both too, and I am going to accept Spring Green. I am basing this on what I have read here on AFI. SG sounds like a nice small show with great artist treatment. I am somewhat concerned about the bigger show coinciding with the other Des Moines show. Nothing against it, but my gut tells me to go to Spring Green.
