I just finished having a discussion with a local promoter who was pretty stuck on not having either an individual page on their website or an individual Facebook page for a show.
I personally am of the opinion that promoters should have a page on their website and a Facebook page which both of which are dedicated to a single show for which they are promoting and not for the promoter in general.
As an Artist/Craftsman you want to promote yourself as well as the shows that you do. If you are currently using Facebook as a means to promote yourself and the shows that you will be exhibiting in, you post a link on your Facebook page that links back to the promoters website or Facebook page. This will generally bring up several options for thumbnail photos which are typically of another artist's or craftsman's work or general information about the promoter. My point is, promoters which have more than one show need to have a page on their website or a Facebook page that is dedicated to each individual show that they promote so as an exhibitor in that show you can link to it without promoting another artist/craftsman or the promoter themselves.

It is SO cheap to have a page for each show and a FB business page -- really only requires some time. Granted, I am constantly updating my sites and FB pages, but this is where the younger demographic hangs out, and we need them at the shows to continue to have them be relevant. One of the advantages of social media is that promoters don't have to spend as much money (print media is expensive) to promote their events and this is almost a no-brainer. Totally agree with you, Rich.
I agree Rich. The promoter should have one as their general page, but then one for each show if it is a regular event. They then link to the show's specific page to encourage likers to go there. The artist can then link to the show's page and the show's page can return the favour.
I'm struggling just getting local promoters to do ANY sort of facebook page at the moment!
Sounds like a good idea but have not heard of promoters doing this....at least not "in the west". I do have a FB page and this reminds me that I should do a better job of updating :)
