So general liability is the easy insurance. Studio content replacement coverage for a home based studio which is attached to the home with a kiln for glass fusing seems to be another animal. I currently have an agent reaching out to providers but no one can seem to wrap their heads around the difference between fusing and blowing. I've provided the kiln specs from the manufacturer. I've tried to guide them that's it's more like a ceramic studio than hot glass but am coming up dry.
Who amongst us has actually declared their kiln(s) to their insurance provider and has content replacement insurance for their studio for raw materials and equipment? and if so, which company is covering you? Thanks for your help!

I ended up going with State Farm. The policy they wrote is extremely comprehensive and possibly overkill but it keeps all of my insurance in one place.
Thanks for your input!
Try www.rlicorp.com/business.owners.insurance If that link doesn't work just Google RLICorp insurance. I am an ex-property/casualty insurance agent and coverage through this company also includes business INTERRUPTION coverage. This is often overlooked or simply never thought of when purchasing coverage. If, under the worst of circumstances (think 'Tornado') we suffered a total loss , it would take us weeks if not months to recover.
Here's another tip for everyone with insurance. With all due respect to your agent, the person who really knows the policy and coverages is the insurance adjuster. For all practical purposes the agent is a salesperson and, depending on their level of experience in seeing how/what claims have been paid, really doesn't know the intricate details that goes into settling a claim. The adjuster, in contrast, is the one who actually does the work and knows all the ins-and-outs of the legal document. Hope this helps . . . Joe
Thank you, Joe! I just finished talking with them and they almost seem too easy to work with and too good to be true after the hassle I've had the last few days! and they understand our business. Thank you very much!
I have kilns. I have business coverage with State Farm. I have a large deductible, my choice.
I have a studio not attached to my house, but on the same property, garage underneath.
Two people came from State Farm to check my building, took them about 2 seconds to approve.
I believe they came to inspect, because my house, which they also insure, was built in 1860 and we went through more specifics for my two wood burning stoves.
Thank you!
