Northern Virginia Fine Arts Festival at Town Center - May 17 & 18 - Fiber artist Cindy Griselda reported that some time between the show’s 8 p.m. closing on Saturday and the morning opening on Sunday, six works were stolen from her booth on Market Street at the Reston Town Center festival. The pieces ranged in value from $125 to $1,675.

Cindy makes art quilts which are quite labor intensive and to lose these pieces early in the season puts her in danger of having a low inventory for her upcoming shows.

I am posting this here and sharing it on Facebook in hopes of spreading the word and that the quilts will be recovered.

  • I exhibited at Reston last year. The first day was rainy, dreary and slo-o-o-w. And in one of my worst art show moments ever, I suffered an epic brain fart and left several cases of my 2D art work sitting out on the sidewalk behind my booth, just under a covered overhang to an office building entry. I didn't even realize what I'd done until the next morning when I returned to open up shop and saw the cases sitting there, on my DOLLY, no less. Everything was fine, everything was in tact, totally unmolested.
I'm sorry to hear about this artist's loss and I hope that she is able to recover her work. But, occasionally, people do the right thing.
