For photographers. I just came across this pod cast on itunes. It's an interview with Alla Tsank, a painter and one of the jurors for Sausalito in 2010. She's being interviewed about how she chose the photographers in this past years show.

  • I would say this is the reason why non-photographers should NOT be a juror for photographers. Would they let photographers be a juror for painting cateogry?

The statement made by her "..maybe somebody has a nice camera that takes nice pictures..." and other similar statements in the audio clip, shows that she doesn't know what she is talking about. Maybe she has nice brush and expensive pigments that paints real nice paintings for her?

    • I disagree. She juried all the categories and treated each the same. What you're reading is an interview with a photographer who asked questions specific to photography because he didn't see the bigger picture of asking about how the show is juried in general. Do you really think photography was the only category she didn't understand the technical aspect of? All mediums should be juried on whether or not the images are compelling, not how technically well done they are.
