Anybody done this August show in Salida, Colorado?
The original application deadline was February 17, and they sent out invitations a few days later. Am considering putting together a Colorado tour, but not sure about this one. After the deadline, they changed the ZAPP description to allow another round of jurying which wasn't on the original description, and have been playing around with the dates on the booth fee deadlines.
It appears to be a small town in a nice area. I'm concerned that it's not a big enough area to attract buyers with any kind of buying power.
Coloradans out there? Comments?

Hi jim,
We are putting together a Colorado tour, our birthdays are in August and our 20th anniversary is this year, trying to have a life while working hard and celebrating two decades together and Michael's 50th!!!
The applications are still open for Breckenridge, i think it is www.mountainartsfestival.com, one on the 4th of July, one at the end of July and the 1-3rd of September. We applied for Crested Butte, we got in last year but could not drive that far, i did not have my license then (NewYorker!) and passed on Telluride....hopefully invited this year! Telluride is as you know The Chery Creek People! I hope i was helpful. We applied to Kimball and Sun Valley, we got wait listed for Sun Valley..Peace, Maureen
I knew about the Breckenridge shows, but July is too early yet for me, and I want to be back in Michigan by September 1. Did apply to a couple other shows.
I'm assuming that you were wait listed for Sun Valley last year -- jury is still in review for this year?
Jim - are you applying for Sun Valley? If so, there are a couple of other Idaho / Montana shows you might consider and not have to drive quite as far as CO, provided you're already going to Sun Valley. Considerations for the weekend prior to Sun Valley: Coeur d'Alene Art on the Green and Sweet Pea in Montana. Apps are still open for both, although CDA is coming up due in mid-March.
Thanks Ruth -- I did apply to Sun Valley. But Idaho is farther for me than Colorado. The front range is about 1500 miles. Idaho is closer to 2000. I thought about Sweet Pea, but I'm already committed to a local show that weekend.
Not a Coloradan, but I did do this show last year. The town is quaint and SMALL, but it does seem to be a bit of a micro-mecca for sporty types, mostly kayakers and hikers. It has a bit of an artsy feel in the main portion of downtown. The park is beautiful, right on the riverbank. Colorado is awesome in August. BUT there just weren't that many people at the show. It is a very young show, so it may grow. I did not include it in my planned tour of Colorado this year. There was a lot of great art there last year....and a few misses as well. The jeweler, Harold O'Connor lives in Salida, by the way. It was nice meeting him last year!
