Does anybody know if there is RV camping anywhere near this show? I do not know if they allow camping on site.  I have not been able to find much in the area but maybe somebody knows? Thanks for any help.   Annie

  • Thanks Geri, I haven't seriously looked at the map yet so I am not sure about the drive. Will get more serious about it over the weekend.

Munks is right. Hotels in the area can be expensive. Check out Skokie, Morton Grove, Lincolnwood and the North Side of Chicago. If you look at a map, you don't want to be further west than rte. 43.

What is the maximum drive you are looking for?
  • Thanks Munks, that's about what I suspected but thought I would ask anyhoo. Really not crazy about big city shows. There are a couple of forest preserves with camping but they can be tricky too. Trying to remember the names of those long lost Chicago relatives....... : )

  • Annie,

I've heard Evanston referred to as a mini-Chicago and that is fairly accurate.

They won't let you exist in the show area outside of show hours - camping there would be pretty close to impossible. You'd be incredibly lucky to find a parking space on the street much less find a place for a camper. Although Northwestern University is a few blocks away, I don't think they would be very accommodating for your camping needs. The lake is a few blocks away too, there might be camping in the park there, but I really doubt it. Some people sleep on the red line, but I don't think they do the show.

You'll be able to camp in a hotel if you priceline it NOW, but be prepared to pay. Evanston is relatively hard to get to from almost everywhere in the area. One year I got a fairly decent rate at a fairly clean hotel by the airport and drove in each day of the show. I quit doing the show because the logistics are a bit overwhelming for a show of Fountain Square's caliber.
