Problems with FineArtAmerica

I would just like to make anyone who uses FAA  aware of my recent situation with them. Last fall I had ordered 10 greeting cards from FAA. They were beautiful. A few weeks ago I ordered 50 more (5 different sets of 10). To say the least I was very disappointed with this order. I sent them back, thinking I would hear something back. Maybe asking what the problem was.

I never heard anything. I finally called them and the lady I talked to said she was sorry about the cards and she would make out a ticket and send it to their " order fulfillment people". I should get an e-mail in a couple of hours. A day or two later I did receive an e-mail from their representative. She said that she was sorry about the cards but they do print a little darker than normal.

I said, that isn't the problem. The colors were a bit washed out, what should have been purple was blue, and the paper they were printed on was terrible. CHEAP. She did tell me they had changed production facilities earlier this year. That's why the paper is different. She also said that if they were to reprint them, they would be the same.

I hate to find fault or complain about anybody, but you would think someone would be interested in fixing the problem. I will say FAA refunded my money with no problem but it did cost me $13.00 to send them back. I'm thinking about closing that site. I don't want someone else ordering something with my name on it and not getting a quality product.

Does anyone know who prints greeting cards on demand. I may have to have it done locally. Sorry for the rant but I want other people to be aware.

Take care,

Phil Hewitt

  • thanks for the input on that.  It makes a big difference when printing on cheaper paper stock

  • I've been a member on Fine Art America since October of 2011, and I have to say that early this spring I *did* notice that they had changed suppliers for the cards.  The card stock is just a bit lighter, and the finish is not as glossy as the previous supplier's cards.  However, I truly believe that I only noticed it because I deal with my cards all the time.  My husband helps me set up my booth, so he's somewhat familiar with my cards.  I handed one him and asked if he noticed anything different about it, and he didn't -- until I handed him an "old" card to compare with, side by side.  I haven't had any trouble with the color values, although I do find that the cards print a bit darker than prints do.

I'm not trying to diminish your experience in the least -- you are completely entitled to your opinions and feelings.  As someone who is still very satisfied with FAA, I just wanted to put my experience out there too.

Moo.com is great, though -- I've used them for my business cards and postcards for a couple years now, and have always been thoroughly satisfied.  They aren't inexpensive, but they are good!
