Hi Friends.....
The other day I was leafing through a course schedule that came in the mail from our local community college and ran across the schedule for the art classes. I was pleasantly surprised to see an abundance of classes in painting, drawing, sculpture, ceramics and digital photography. This got me thinking about the possibility of taking some of these classes and maybe switching medias. I love my work with found objects, but I could see maybe learning another craft and seeing if I would be any good at it. Who knows, maybe learn a new craft and incorporate my found object work with it. Have any of you ever completely switched medias or do you work in more than one media? If so, have you found success with it?

I'm mainly a found-object, re-purposed item artist, mixed-media, but I have taken classes at my local community college the past few years: photo shop and other digital illustration classes, and most recently fine metalwork. I love the metalwork class and often wear pieces I've made, but having seen and admired the work of other real jewelry makers, I cannot imagine trying to compete with the brilliant work out there already! I only compare my second-semester creations with what I see from others, and now I can appreciate their work even more as I know how hard it is to make!
But I do love learning new techniques. Keeps me fresh.
Hello, Larry....the best!! Thanks for the reply! I miss chatting with you, call me sometime!
Hi Elle,
Multiple mediums. To give you an idea, a major percentage of the artists who sign up for Art Fair Insiders list more than one medium.
