Can anyone explain how to make photos of art for submission. Do you need a professional to take photos? Do you have to have photoshop or a way to format the image or just a good camera. I have a Canon ES. Thank you!

To make a short story long, it's not how good your jury images are, it's how good your competitor's images are. And if you plan applying to some of the top shows, a lot of artists spare no expense to have the best images possible because they understand that it's their most important asset in applying to art shows.
Look at the examples on my web site.

I also do free image evaluations and work with a great many artists on improving their display picture, which is required by most shows you plan on applying to.
Here's a link to the section on how to photograph your own art:

Hi Lisa, this is a topic we've talked a lot about here. You don't need a professional but having the very best images possible will help your acceptance rate at the better art fairs. You can search this site for tips on "booth images", "shooting your images", etc., but a really helpful place to visit is Larry Berman's site: http://bermangraphics.com/
He has a good tutorial on photographing your own art.
