Hi - I am a new member and this is my first posting.  Does anyone know anything about the Peters Valley Craft Art Fair - this is it's 41st year and it is held September 24th and 25th.

I am a jeweler who works in metal and would be so grateful for any imput from anyone who has done this show?

Thank you!

  • The one thing I would add, is that this is NOT a show for beginners.
  • I am new to the fine craft show circuit as an exhibitor and so don't have many insights to share yet but based on the website alone, it sounds like this is a show taken very seriously by its organizers -- there is a wealth of information on the website, from frequently asked questions to other downloads. The fact that it's held by a non-profit organization that's dedicated to craft is a huge plus, I think.  (Sounds like I place I would love to visit!) What would be helpful is a list of past participants but I couldn't find it on their site. You might find mentions of past participants in the show by googling the show name and checking for individual craftsmen websites (resumes, events, etc).  The website does indicate that the deadline for applications has passed, and I would be surprised if they were still accepting applications now that it's a little over a month away from show date. For some reason, I must have missed this show's info & deadline on Zapplication earlier this year, otherwise I may have considered applying.

A great thing to do would be to visit the event this year, and, if you like it, apply next year.

Thanks for mentioning this show, I'll add it to my list of shows to be on the lookout for.

  • I remember goiung to Peter's Valley in the 70s. It was a genuine experience. There were potters there who made their own kilns at the site. I remember seeing blacksmiths with forges right there. It wasn't so much a craft show as a demonstration of well trained, well educated artists who knew what they were doing.

And of course this was 'way before canopies, so the displays were quite ingenius. And everybody slept in Pup Tents behind their booths.

It's nice to know they're still around. But are they still in Peter's Valley, or somewhere else now?

    • It takes place at The Sussex County Fairgrounds but it must be close to the school because I someone I spoke with said they offer housing for people that are doing the art fair that weekend.  Thanks for your imput Chirs - If I can get a last minute slot I think I am going to go for it.
