Has anyone else noticed that it will now be open on Friday evenings from 6-10 pm?
10 PM !? Really? I’m surprised I noticed this: maybe others have not. Sat and Sun seem to be the same hours as usual, opening at 10 am. Which means – especially after setting up Friday - being really exhausted Saturday, for what should be the prime sales day. It's often so dang hot I'd never survive through Saturday.
I'd sure like to know WHY, in case the show director is on here. It's not a case where a show just has music performing on Friday nights and the artists are just on the weekends. The prospectus clearly says artists need to be set up and ready at 6 pm.
I am seriously rethinking applying.

I thought about applying to this show, but I am also rethinking it. I really wish it was just a Saturday and Sunday show. The hours are a killer if you are alone - which I probably would be. I wonder why they decided to add Friday night to the show. I wish they would make Friday night optional like they do for other shows.
Anita, call them and tell them! They don't know if they have missed out on an application. Maybe if enough people call and say, "heck no: I'll apply elsewhere" they will change their plans.
I expect that many who see this will not apply. And regulars who apply without noticing this change (we've all done it: skimmed the prospectus for a familiar show) will be screaming when they find out.
Peoria Art Guild is 309-360-7350.
Linnea, I am also a jeweler and it would take me forever to pack up on Friday. I plan on calling them Monday. If enough people speak up, they might change it to a two day show. We can only try.
I told her it would be hardship for jewelers in particular. The more people who object the better.
If they desperately want a preview, have one designated area to put artists who opt IN to showing Friday night.
I decided not to apply to the show. If they go back to a 2 day show next year, I will consider this show.
