Anyone attend/exhibit at last year's Boca Raton Fine Art Show (a Hot Works productionhttp://www.hotworks.org/bocaratonfineartshow/index.php)? Any opinions or comments about the show or about "Hot Works" shows would be appreciated. I was accepted for the Jan 2011 show but would like to get opinions / first-hand info before confirming -- Thank you.

Well I see I commented that I was about to do this show and now, more than a year later, I have done it. I'm not sure if I wrote a review or not. This was a lousy show up until 3:00 on Sunday. Many exhibitors left early. Between 3 and 5 I sold a reasonable amount. I would do it again if I lived near there but I don't any more. The key for me is to not get discouraged. I always say it is not a bad show until 5:00 on Sunday.
I like Hot Works theme of "see art, love art, buy art".
The location seems nice and they have a lot of events which bring in foot traffic. There are a lot of shows in Boca so that could work against you. Then again, January is pretty early in "the season" so that works to your advantage.
Good luck if you decide to do it.

So which weekend in Jan. is the Hotworks show?, reason I am asking is the Boca Museum show is moving into the last weekend of Jan. this coming year for the first time. two shows in a short time period in the same city is never good for sales. Hope you all are aware of the Museum show date-change. Personally, Boca is a tough market, you gotta have the right stuff and be prepared to haggle a lot. they won't pay sales tax there, so mark your stuff up accordingly. This is from a person who has done shows off and on (more off) there for more than 30 years. Just thought I'd throw that info out there for you.
I have not done a Hot Works show but I have heard that they are well organized and treat the artists well. I did the Boca Museum show last year and was hugely dissapointed but I figured I will give the Hot Works show a chance before I write off the whole city.

Which Hot Works show will you be doing? Will you be exhibiting at the same show I am referring to?
Thank you for the reply. Are you speaking specifically about the "Boca Raton Fine Art Show" by Hot Works or another? The only reason I need clarification is because you mentioned you did it two years ago but this will be their 2nd Annual show. Refer to http://www.hotworks.org/bocaratonfineartshow/index.php
