I heard this show has a strange set up.. they provide leaky tents, and you get two walls.. bring plastic to cover the inside of the tent.. six long days, that's obvious, and 20% commission... well, I'm in Woodlands, Fort Worth, then Oklahoma City, and KC Brookside.. so it's a 4 tour run out in TX swing - back to NY... concerned about weather, damage, and inventory.. but what else is new..

what makes it easier - in OK... I'm covered in my camper van mostly on the trip, but not sure about the set up in OK.. do they have parking - for overnighters..? Brookside is cool, you pay $80 per space, but park behind your tent! (so I'm told).. Woodlands  - come early stay late.. I'm in no hurry.. thx

  • Barry Bernstein, active on this site, was there last year -- message him. Of course, he could be on the road to Florida about now and I don't blame him.

Sounds to me, Mark, like you'll be bringing home some money. Nice group of shows.

    • Read my review from last years show somewhere on this site.  OK City is a grueling event.  I complain the whole time and two weeks later I think that it wasn't so bad and I sign up for the next year.  The tents don't leak and I like the setup because you don't have to set up your tent.  Bring lights.  They make a big deal about the plastic because one year, I wasn't there, it was really windy and rainy and things got broken.  If the weather is good, it could be your best show of the year.  I like the 20% commission because if you don't sell, it doesn't cost you much.  Price isn't a problem there so raise your prices 10% to offset their take.  It all works out in the end.  There is a never ending supply of helpers that will run and get you food and drink.  I much prefer that to useless booth sitters.  People who do this show come back every year. So, that tells you something.

Connie, you should have bopped down for the weekend.  Nels and Ellen are here, Barbara Umbral, the Parkers and many more are here. The weather is great.  It might even be fun.

  • At OKC, we used to park at blocked off meters across the street from the end of the show. And leave the vehicles there for the entire show. The community is very supportive of the show and the artists. Call the show and ask to be sure.
