Hello everyone,
I'm Lazaro Ruda (Laz for short) from Palm Beach, FL. I have been diving for almost 20 years and photographing underwater for half that time. I work in the dive industry so I get to spend a good amount of time underwater with a camera in-hand. Up until now, underwater photography has been purely for personal enjoyment and educating others about the underwater world.
Inspired by my wonderful partner, we have decided to do a little more than just post my photography on my web site -- TheLivingSea.com. We have tried a couple of very tiny weekday shows and the opportunity to share my photography and the stories behind them with people outside of the scuba circle has been a lot of fun. Getting a little cash for my prints is not bad either.
I was accepted as an emerging artists at ArtiGras 2013 for my first real show, and I am both super excited and nervous. So much to learn and do... so little time! I have been lurking through the forum and it is full of great insight.
While making a little extra cash (for more diving!) is obviously part of the reason I'm getting into the art fair gig, I feel my greatest fulfillment comes from educating those with little or no experience about our wonderful ocean world. I'm determined to produce more shark lovers out there! :)
I look forward to making many new friends in the art fair world.
