Connie suggested that I introduce my self so here goes - I am new to the art festival circuit. I retired from public education about 2 years ago and spent 20 years teaching high school art and finished my career as a middle school principal. Decided to pick the brush back up after 10 years of not painting or drawing a singe image. Pretty rusty. Instead of following my old path of oils and pastels I lept into acrylics. Hhhmm...we'll see how that works out. Currently I have been painting pet portraits and branching out a bit into florals and landscapes. My favorite subjects are those I find around my house in the woods of southeast Ohio, Maxx the cockapoo, Yakki and Bud the cats and that nasty old owl who keeps eating my koi. I have beautiful gardens which are a result of those years as a principal. Digging holes is very theraputic!
I am currently filling out those applications and sending in images to be juried. Thank heavens for photoshop! Who knew you shouldn't sign your artwork before you photographed it?! Any help and suggestions from the veterans would certainly be welcomed! looking forward to meeting those of you working out of Ohio and the neighboring states.

Hi Terry, Welcome to Art Fair Insiders. You have found a wonderful interesting site here. I like the picture of you and your adorable dog. I also have a dog named Jack, who gets to be the subject in alot of my photography. Sounds like you are off to a good start, best of luck with your shows and let us know how they go. Take care,
Sabrina
Welcome, Terry. You live near so I'm hoping to see you at an art fair this coming year.
I am a middle school refugee myself, teaching and consulting -- those years were the least favorite ones in my life -- heaven keep me from adolescent angst and young women who think they are women just because they're sexually active! I'd say I like this stage of my life MUCH better.
Hello Terry. I used to be a Home Ec teacher in southern Michigan. I left that to raise my kids. Now, I couldn't find a Home Ec job if I wanted to. They are quite rare nowadays. We are glad to have you here with us. I am sure you will find this group very helpful to you as you get into the show circuit. How is your show schedule coming along? Have you been accepted into any yet? Good luck with your shows in 2011. I hope you get into all the shows that you want to for this coming year.
