New user from the Oregon Coast

Greetings.  I was linked to this site from Fine Arts America, and just know starting to get into Fairs and markets.  I've been an image creator for sometime, mainly dealing with custom ordered products for Interior Designers, Decorators and Professional Stagers. I'm based in Newport Oregon, on the Oregon Coast.   I recently started selling images and products with my images online and decided to start working with consumers f2f (Face to Face)  I've been reading some of the documents on this site as I'm doing my first ever Art/Craft fair locally on the 28th. It's inside so I don't yet have to purchase booth tent.

My work spans a whole range of subject manner, from landscape/oceanscapes, nature, wildlife, abstracts etc.  I've very interested to learn how my work is accepted in real life, rather than "likes" on SM :)

I have two main sites

www.bposner.com  mainly for commercial work

www.bposnerimages.com for consumer products and images

I'm here to learn from the experienced fair artists, as I am a real newbie to this world and my only participation has been as a buyer :)  Now I'm moving into the Seller world.  It is nice find a community like that where I can get some insight, which eventually I'll will be about to pass on as well.

Thanks

  • We're glad to have you join us, Bill. Our members come straight from high school, have PhD's in art, never even finished high school, are brand new to the business, or are nearing 70's and did their first shows where their parents had to drive them to the show. We are all levels, but most have other experience and, like you, bring business experience to the shows. The maturity helps a lot because this is not an easy life and the more "life skills" you have the more likely you'll be flexible enough to find a way in this business that requires not only talent and imagination but daring, toughness, grit and perseverance. Always my best advice is to visit as many shows as you can and take lots of notes ... good luck.
