Hi all,
Just wanted to stop by and introduce myself, I'm getting ready to (hopefully) get into some art shows here in Florida next season and have already found a wealth of info here. Listening to the podcasts alone is a great source of information. I now know how important it is to submit good images and a booth shot and follow directions when applying for shows. I'm starting out with a Flourish Canopy and Propanels which we set up this week and despite high winds, we must have done something right because it was weighted down and stood in my backyard for 2 days. What I didn't realize is how nervous I'd be and there is so much work just with the logistics alone. This is what's going through my head at any given moment right now:
"You're not good enough.Maybe I'm good enough.I have a 4 door sedan guess I'll need to rent a van for the first few shows. Will renting a van wipe out any profits I make?Guess I'll need to buy a van especially for shows that aren't local. How am I going to price?Do my prices have to match my website? I use Fine Art America for fulfilment on said website there's no way prices can be the same due to my overhead for printing, shipping, and show fees.I'm good at one thing, photography, what if this doesn't work out?Walking Dead was really good this week. What if I don't get into any shows? What if I get into all of them?Where do I park? How will I know which space is mine? What if they put me next to someone who is utterly amazing and way better than me?"
So yeah, a little frazzled lol. I hope y'all are patient because I'll have many questions. I try not to ask unless I can't find the answer in the discussion forums. Sorry for the long winded intro but definitely looking forward to getting to know all of you.

HI, Mark, and welcome to AFI.
I'll answer one of your questions. If you get next to someone who is way better than you, or even when you encounter that person no matter the proximity to your booth, pay attention, learn, and you'll be better next time yourself. Examine their artwork and don't worry so much about what other shows they do.
I used to do Florida. Loved it. Can't come back for health reasons is the long story shortened. Did great there from 2004-2015. Now I'll have to do shows closer to home in a dryer climate. I'm in Wyoming.
Good luck with shows and jump into the great discussions here. I look forward to seeing posts and growth from you. WOOHOO! Barrie
