Hi, I dont know if the NEW ORLEANS JAZZ & HERITAGE FESTIVAL will constitute as an art show, but i am seriuosly considering doing it and would welcome any input from previous exhibitors and artist that have done or heard anything about this show. Thanks in advance for your contribution.

I received your message in my Facebook inbox. As mentioned, this will be my first time at Jazzfest, also (the Contemporary Crafts section.) So I'm right there with you, in need of advice! I have a call-out to my Facebook friends and have been getting some good feedback. I've heard really great things about the show, have several jewelry friends who have done very well there. Many of them are in the second weekend this year. (I didn't specify which weekend I wanted as I thought it may put more limit on my acceptance, I wanted to be open about it. In fact, the first weekend will work out much better for me anyway so I lucked out!)
I was rejected the first time I applied in 2009, was wait-listed in 2010 (along with 5,000 others, I'm sure,) and 2011 was 'third time the charm!' I look forward to seeing you and meeting you there! (I've heard that it's a show that you really need someone along to help you!)
Cheers,
Michael

I was waitlisted also, but I know people who were rejected so they didn't waitlist everyone.

Walking by & minding my own business; not bothering anyone. Noticed the post and gave a low-toned, long whistle. Too much to resist. I felt like that little weasel on the Foghorn Leghorn cartoons.
Stepping up to the keys like a conductor in a symphony. Cracked each knuckle and picked up the conductor's baton as I settled to the keyboard.
I closed my eyes as I listened to the instruments tuning in my mind.
The entire symphony waited in eager anticipation . . . not a sound in the concert hall. All eyes on the podium. I raised my hands over the keyboard to let the masterpiece flow from my fingers . . .
Stopping.
There's a subtle tapping in the back of the room. A steady tap echoing all around the hall.
Who interrupts this magnum opus? This greatest idea yet to stream from my conscious brain . . .
Peering over the podium I try to see who this person is . . . and it's . . .
Connie Mettler.
Arms crossed tapping her shoe.
Damn.
I fold up my keyboard and walk away from the stage.
Did you apply, Harrison? Because if you didn't the acceptances went out today. If you did get in -- many congratulations. I've not done the show, have visited it. Clearly a niche event with fine and unusual one of a kind work. Friends who have done it love it and always want to return.
