Hi, just joined a couple of weeks ago after seeing this site on the web. I have really enjoyed reading everyone's comments and suggestions, feel like I've learned a lot already. I just retired in June after teaching elementary art for 33 years. Have been going to 4 shows in the summer for several years, just local small ones. this winter I really worked on paintings, trying to build up and improve my work. Just when I think I'm making progress I put them on the computer and see what needs lots of work, somehow I don't notice it until they are on the computer. I have wire gallery display racks, and can't afford to switch to propanels so am getting carpet at Menards and making covers for less than $20 each. My first show is May 22 so getting ready for that. Hope to join in some discussions. Even with Munk who won't admit he's from Iowa! Thanks for all your info. Deb Baughman

Welcome!
Glad to see you here, you are in the right spot!!
Munks is a character, and with glee I check his posts often....he makes me smile!! A little humor is the best medicine!
Seriously, though, we have a wonderful group of peeps here, and knowledgeable veterans with years of experience which they are willing to depart to us relative Newbs, and I am still learning new tips, hints and tricks of the trade!
Any questions, just search the forums- the topic has probably been posted before, and if not fire away. One of the vets will have an answer, or suggestion for you!
Enjoy your ME TIME, and let us know how things are going with you!

Thanks, Karole. I hope to participate, enjoy reading everyone's posts.
Hello Deb. Glad you have joined us here. I have seen several retired teachers here. I used to be a Home Ec teacher and that is a pretty much extinct subject anymore. Sounds like your wire racks should work for you. A show booth seems to be constantly evolving anyway. It doesn't have to be perfect to get yourself going. You will get ideas as you see other people's booths, too. Well, welcome and good luck this year.

We're glad to have you join us, Deb. Many of our members are people who have been involved in the arts as an avocation, or even profession like you, but have not been able to really pay attention to creative work until now. Congratulations. This is what I call "me time". Time to concentrate on your heart's desire and become who you always wanted to be. Best wishes in your endeavors.
It is a pleasure to see that you have already been reading the site and getting acquainted with all the eccentrics and normal folks here. Tell us where you are starting your next shows.
