I was just accepted into the group and look forward to the opportunity to learn from everyone here. I have done 2 fairs in NJ and have moved to Davenport, FL now. I'm looking into fairs, etc. to sell quilts and other handmade items.
I'm a crafter from childhood, learning to sew Barbie doll clothes which eventually turned into sewing gowns, mostly wedding. I gave that up about 5 years ago to sew quilts. Somewhat less stressful than dealing with brides, LOL!
Thanks for having me!

Hello Susan and welcome to our group. I also got into crafting/art through the making of Barbie doll clothes. I was sewing things by hand so my dad bought me a used sewing machine when I turned 11. I made my wedding dress after taking several clothing classes in college where I became an Home Ec teacher. It is funny how toys and play can lead us down a certain path that changes our lives.
Even though I loved to sew I can not imagine making someone else's wedding dress. Yikes! I think I would rather scrub the floor. Good for you that you had what it took to do that.
You will find lots of information here to help you on your journey as an artist/craftsmen. Take your time and explore. Our website is huge. We hope to see you in our forums.
Pleased to have you join us, Susan and we look forward to your participation. This site is only as good as the members make it and the community and comaraderie are important to its vitality.
I'd guess making quilts would be a better choice than creating wedding gowns. Whenever I've watched "Bridezillas" or "Say Yes to the Dress" it makes me crazy! I once was in a jewelry booth and the person trying on the rings wanted a hand mirror so she could look at the ring in a mirror. What is that? I seem to be missing one of those feminine genes.
Where is Davenport and do you have any shows upcoming?
Thanks Connie! As much drama as brides can dish out, it really was OK because I love, love, loved puling an idea out of someone's brain and putting it on them! Also spent 24 years with Tiffany & Co, so I totally "get" the whole mirror thing, LOL!
Davenport is just 14 miles southwest of Disney in FL. I'm considering the Farmers Market at Celebration, FL this fall. I just ordered my 10x10 white canopy (with sides for sun/rain protection). I'm so very new to all this!
Hi Susan, and welcome to Art Fair Insiders! I, too, am a crafter (knitted / felted) and have found lots of inspiration, encouragement and advice on this site...you will too. Thanks for joining and good luck to you!
