I just signed on and wanted to introduce myself. I am a basket maker and woodturner working in my home studio in Central California. Although I have been doing shows on and off for over 20 years I have not been a full time artist until recently. I know I will enjoy look around this site and being part of the community.

Welcome Peggy...i know you will find true friends here
Thanks Albert
Glad to have you join us, Peggy. You've hit the nail on the head, a not very well kept secret is that artists favorite events are usually the ones that are smaller and run by local people. What is your next one?
I have a one day show on Saturday in Murphys, a Gold Country town only 45 minutes from my house. Haven't done this one before but have high hopes for it because it is exactly as you describe, a locally run event that benefits the town athletic facilities and sports programs. Will let you know next week how it went.
Hope this goes well for you.
Thanks Connie
It did go well, especially since it was the first time I did this show. I usually have to repeat a show once or twice to really get sales started. I am still on the fence about one day shows. Alot of work with set up and break down on the same day but when sales as good, I'll find the energy to get it done!
Peggy - in the Groups section there is a very active group for Southwest and West Coast Artists. Love to have you join us in that group. Welcome to AFI.
Hello Peggy and welcome. We look forward to having you here with us. What shows have you done in California?
I have done mostly Bay Area Shows. Live Oak fair in Berkeley in June, Kings Mt in Woodside in September and Celebration of Craftswomen and KPFA in San Francisco in November and December. Also the Los Altos and Saratoga Rotary art shows in the spring in the San Jose area. I have tried shows with professional promoters in the area but always seems to come back to the ones that are done by local organizations as fund raisers.
Hi Peggy and welcome aboard :)
