  • Connie, I just recently joined Art Fair Insiders because of the awesome amount of candid and genuine response to honest questions in the forums.  There really isn't anything else like this, and it's a huge boon to someone like me who is contemplating coming into the art festival community.  I can't tell you how much I appreciate it.

Then lo and behold, I discovered you have a special podcast, which I quickly downloaded and listened to it as I worked in my studio.  Now, I'm an avid podcast listener.  I find them much more efficient than perusing for information online, because I can do two things at once: inform myself and be constructive.  I listen to a lot of podcasts specifically for that reason, and it helps me with my "internet addiction" by allowing me to step away from the computer but still feel connected to whatever community the podcast concerns.

I would urge you very very strongly to seriously consider making a podcast a regular part of your offering for Art Fair Insiders.  Your son Scott did a great job putting it all together, and the information was invaluable to someone like me.  It inspires trust in the website's goals, faith in your endeavors as a genuinely generous expert, and displays a truly authentic personal touch that can't be replaced.  Many in the blogging community have created impassioned followings through their podcasting, and created a palpable sense of kinship in their listeners.  From the comments posted here, it seems your community would really enjoy the kind of connection a podcast can offer.

I, for one, will continue to come back to Art Fair Insiders more regularly because of your podcast.  I, for one, believe much more in the validity of what this website offers now that I have heard real voices, with real passion, and real stories.  I, for one, no longer feel quite so lost in the effort to educate myself on my future art festival adventures.  I'm a complete noob, trying to learn more before I dive in.  And the podcast helped.  Thanks  so much!  I look forward to hearing more from you, the members of this community, and others who can offer real insight and value to my journey as an art fair vendor.

    • Many thanks, Corey, for that wonderful testimonial and your point of view. How nice to read this first thing in the morning.

I'm inspired to work even harder today! It seems that we are going to have to put more effort into "Art Fair Radio."

  • Really enjoyed the show and received some great advice. Thanks for sharing. I will be pledging my financial support and will become more involved with this wonderful site

    • Thanks for the informative show. I also thought it was a bit too short though.

Im hoping it will be a continuing show. Weekly would be great. A instant 'call in 'show would be excellent. We can all add instant feedback to what is being said. That would be a HOOT!

  • Thanks for such wonderful information even though brief I still got a lot from the interviews. I thought when munks said he keeps his customers that most likely are not buying anything engaged in his booth with description and hand gestures about his art until someone else walks in was brilliant. I will be using that one, people are more interested in what others are interested in and that is a brilliant way of tickling their curiousity as to what is being said to another potential buyer. They will walk in to listen without them being the center of attention and the more that walk in the more others will like to join in thereby creating a buzz.

Looking forward to the follow up next week.

Made my pledge, wish i could afford more.

    Harrison Otalor.

    • And thanks to you, Harrison.

The really interesting thing about Munks is that his work "is not for everyone" -- in general, I'd say not accessible to most people passing down the street, but with this technique, those who don't understand it are more likely to come into the booth to see what it is all about and learn and appreciate.

  • Downloaded the MP3.  Glad you were able to save it for listening at our convenience.. Should be interesting.
    • I was going to give the $2000 to have Bill over but cats are so hard to get rid of once you start feeding them. Munks never told us how his year was going and I didn't want to run up Bill's tab.

Being an Angel and astonished at how much I liked Munks and Nels, I pledged accordingly.

      Kudos!

      • You certainly did, Linda! Thanks so much for everything.
  • It was great to hear two guys who really love art.  "Art from the heart" for Nels and that "trusting the unknown" for Munks.  I think it was one of the most important points that was shared was that they don't make money on what other people would like or FOR an audience but initially, they make their art because it pleases them to do so.  The business side comes later.  I think it so important that we hold to that during tough economic times.

It was neat to hear the voices of all of you and to hear the laughter.  Great job Connie and thanks for all you do for us on here.  I'm sure we have no idea all the work that goes into this.
