I need to get a few applications in and wanted some advice. I have placed 9 images and 1 booth shot on the following link. (I just came across Chris and Larry's site and I will be donating since it is very useful)

What order/images would you suggest (for applications requiring 3 and 4 art images)?

Suggestions on improving booth shot?

Thanks.

  • My suggestion would be to drop the stone arch shots as those are seen frequently by judges and may not pass the originality muster. Here are the ones that seem to have the most promise, but take any advice with a few grains of salt.

The two horizontal lake and mountain scenes but not the sunset/silhouette shot. The vertical lake and mountain scene with the tall trees in the middle, and the vertical lake and mountain scene with the orange foliage, which would be the one to pull for a three image application.

The shot of the aspens with the curving trail is nice but disconnected from the other images. The arches are seen commonly and are almost as ubiquitous as Antelope Canyon images. Sorry if it sounds brutal but so is the judging.

The booth shot could be more centered. Check the overhead struts and make sure they're in a straight line going away from you. That will get you exactly in the middle. Next back out and don't crop the edges of your artwork at the front of the booth.

  • If you want suggestions on improving the booth shot, email the full size to me.

  • I arranged them for four and three on the top two lines.

    • Thanks Larry. I print screened it so others can adjust too.

I see that you used 7 different images for the 3/4 combinations. Do they look stronger this way or would the strongest sets have generally the same "4" images?
