Can someone recommend a kind/brand of tall Director's chair that can "weather the storm?" I have gone through 3 chairs in the last 5 years - in each one the seat canvas wears out. I am not a large person (female), but every type chair I get the same thing happens. I use them almost every weekend at art shows. I currently have an aluminum one that I LOVE, but the seat is beginning to wear on that one, too. I am seriously thinking about taking it to a sail shop and having them fit it with canvas. Does anyone have any recommendations? Thanks!

I bought the Dick Blick el-cheapo one ($49.00) and surprisingly it has lasted 12 years now.
The Planet Bamboo 32" director's chair is soooo comfortable but it was kind of pricey... But my wife says I'm worth it!
You can also throw my vote for the aluminum chair into the hat. We have two of them that are over 3 years old now and I would definitely buy it again.
Thanks, Greg....seems like the aluminum one is the way to go. Ordered this morning....now thinking I should have gotten an extra for when my festival buddy travels with me!
Planet Bamboo chairs. Used to be Hollywood Chairs. Have two of them. They don't wear out. Look for them on Amazon for a deal.
Thanks! Will check them out!
Thanks, Jeanne....yes, I too, started off with the wooden type, and changed out the canvas. Then had issues with the wood disintegrating, and so I changed to the aluminum chair, which I like better....so I wanted to stay with that. Glenn and Robert, thanks for your suggestions - Glenn, I actually had picked out that same chair on Amazon...and asked purchasers about the same canvas issue. Everyone gives it a rave review, so I guess I'm ordering one of those! Thanks so much for the quick (and HELPFUL) responses!!!
I have two of the chairs that Glen mentioned and they are great. Bought them separately at Amazon on sale, first one for $89.00 and second one $96.00 both with free shipping. They go on sale every once in while. I have had no issues at all with mine.
I have been doing art shows for about 3 years now and this chair was one of the items I bought before the first show.

(If the link doesn't work search Tall Directors Chair in Amazon its by a company called Earth)
It has seen use every weekend for shows for these past years and with only two minor issues is as good as the day it came. The minor issues are that the net on the bottom has torn off which I never used anyway and the side pockets which are held on via velcro straps one has torn off but a simple clamp took care of this. I'm sure these issues are more a function of my treatment than a build problem.
I'm a big guy at 275 lbs but the chair is rated for 375 lbs and I believe it. The seat and backrest are as taught and comfortable as new. Between the tray that has a cup holder and the two side pockets this chair is my command center. Its lightweight, folds up nicely, sturdy as can be and its less than $100. There is a heavier duty one as well but it lacks the side table which I use constantly.
Can you tell I like this chair? Good luck!
I use to use one. It was wooden and replacement sets of canvas were available. If your canvas slips off, check on line to see if you can purchase the canvas replacement. The ones I had were just rectangles and would have been really easy to make. Fabric stores don't carry sail canvas, but they do carry chair materials and sometimes have canvas suitable for these chairs.
